African and European developers to build games together in Be Ubuntu Game Jam
The jam is intended to act as a starting point for deeper cooperation between developers
The Be Ubuntu Game Jam is an upcoming initiative that aims to bring African and European game developers together through a new cross-continental collaboration format designed to foster creative exchange and long-term partnerships.
The jam will take place online from April 14th, 2026, running for 96 hours across platforms including itch.io, Discord and Zoom. The event is open to senior developers from both regions, who will be placed into mixed teams combining artists, designers and programmers from different cultural and professional backgrounds.
Organisers said the goal is to move beyond networking sessions and workshops by focusing on collaborative production, with participants tasked with building new intellectual property inspired by African culture and history.
The initiative is led by ElimuGoal, founded by Pascalia Hawi Nyamita, whose work centres on inclusive growth and cross-border collaboration in the creative industries.
Building long-term connections
According to the organisers, the jam is intended to act as a starting point for deeper cooperation between developers, studios and organisations across the two regions.

Selected projects will receive promotion and mentorship from industry partners, while participants will gain access to new professional networks and potential business opportunities.
The organisers frame the initiative as part of a broader effort to strengthen representation of African stories in the global games industry, while creating practical pathways for collaboration between emerging and established development ecosystems.
