Ten African-made games from Gamathon 25
Highlighting some of the most promising titles from the region

Gamathon 25 showcased an exciting mix of PC and mobile projects - many still in early development but full of promise.
If you were absent from the show, here's a look at some of the standout games we discovered.
1. Otite Reborn
The first game on the list is no stranger to our audience, and though it's still rough around the edges, in our hands-on preview we called it one of the region’s most promising ongoing projects.

Developed by Nigerian-based Logicdev Studios, Otite Reborn is an action-adventure set in a mystical world inspired by African mythology.
The team is aiming for a 2027 release, and you can access a prototype here.
2. Nouns Hunt
Nouns Hunt is based on the classic game “Name, Animal, Place, Thing,” making it familiar and easy to play. And as someone who grew up playing the game with friends, this is one I'm particularly excited about.

Developed by Nigerian-based Dash Studios, Nouns Hunt is designed to attract word-game fans with its library of over 30,000 words and 25 categories, plus online rooms that can host up to 100 players at once.
The game is currently available in beta via the Play Store and App Store.
3. Kwat Fou
Developed by Cameroonian-based Dawn Of Game Studio, Kwat Fou is a retro-style, free-to-play beat ’em up set in a modern African world, mixing humor, style, and fast-paced action.

The developers said the Kung Fury-inspired title is designed for mobile with future console potential, offering casual accessibility with competitive depth.
A beta is available to play via the Google Play Store.
4. TossDown
TossDown is easily one of, if not the most talked-about titles coming from the African region. It takes inspiration from old-school Dreamcast games that lets players deliver packages while avoiding traps and using power-ups to stay alive.

With more than 50 different perks to unlock, every run feels new and unpredictable as players mix and match abilities to suit their style. TossDown is also developed by Nigeria-based Fer Factor, which also recently penned a publishing deal with Acclaim.
You can wishlist Tossdown on Steam and also check out our hands-on preview of the game.
5. To Walk Alone
Created by a four-woman team named Four Old Men, To Walk Alone explores the fear and anxiety many women feel when walking alone.
The game exaggerates real-life experiences to evoke a heightened sense of unease, capturing the tension of not wanting to be seen or noticed.

The team described the gameplay as one where players follow Clara through a tense university week, helping her complete daily tasks while avoiding creeps and managing anxiety, with lamp posts serving as safe zones along the way.
A prototype of the title is available here.
6. Rasta Santa - Retribution
Santa is usually known for his cheerful ho-ho-ho as he hands out gifts to kids. In this game, however, he’s lost his cool and gone berserk on the local hoodlums.

Set in Makoko, Lagos, Rasta Santa follows a furious Santa on a Christmas Day mission to rescue kidnapped children from a corrupt orphanage. Fueled by justice and rage, he hunts down the traffickers responsible and fights to bring the kids home.
The title is out for mobile on the Play Store and App Store. The developer is also working on a PC release. Earlier this year, we did a hands-on review of Rasta Santa.
7. Kickboxing!
If you’ve ever seen those viral clips of frustrated delivery drivers tossing packages around, Kickboxing! takes that chaos to the next level - but with a playful twist.

Instead of mishandling parcels out of anger, you’re kicking them to their destinations as a way of getting back to your employer, who intends to replace you with delivery drones.
Developed by Ethiopia-based solo creator Biruk Yohannes, the game sees players smash obstacles, dodge angry homeowners, and rack up combos in a chaotic twist on the daily grind. The title is set to launch in late 2025.
8. Outliver: Tribulation
This atmospheric third-person action-adventure blends survival-horror and souls-like gameplay with African mythology.

Players step into the role of Bolanle Gboyega, a soldier fleeing insurgents who finds herself trapped in the mystical Realm of Tribulations, where she must complete an ancient ritual to return home.
Developed by Gbrossoft, the title was fairly well received after launching on PC (Steam) in 2023, but has now made its way to mobile and is now available on the Google Play Store.
9. Lt Ahmed
Developed by Nigeria’s Six Path Studios, Lt. Ahmed puts players in the role of an elite operative sent on a high-stakes solo mission.

Under government orders, players infiltrate enemy zones to gather intel, rescue hostages, and eliminate dangerous pirates and mercenaries.
Armed with skill and determination, you’ll take on impossible odds as a one-man army tasked with bringing justice to hostile territories. Lt Ahmed is currently available to download on the Google Play Store.
10. Circuit Chakula
Developed by Mykiyi Entertainment Circuit Chakula puts players in charge of a repair shop on an Earth suddenly flooded with alien visitors.

As intelligence agencies snoop for information, players must fix devices, interact with strange customers, and make choices that shape events - even influencing the news itself.
Essentially, this visual novel game lets you experience a futuristic Africa through the eyes of a night mechanic. A prototype for the title is available here.
