At Night: The Student launches as a short psychological horror game set in suburban Japan
The experience focuses on tension, vulnerability and exploration
Limeless Studio has released At Night: The Student, a short first-person psychological horror game that places players in the role of a teenage girl navigating a quiet Japanese neighborhood under growing tension.
Players take control of Mio, a 16-year-old high school student left home alone while her mother is away, as reports of a kidnapper in the area begin to circulate.
The game unfolds through everyday routines such as walking through residential streets, visiting local shops and attending school, gradually building unease through atmosphere rather than action.
Atmosphere-driven design
Designed as a roughly 20-minute experience, the title removes traditional navigation tools and combat mechanics in favor of environmental observation.

Instead of receiving directions, players are sent photos on Mio’s phone that depict real-world locations, requiring them to recognize landmarks and find their way independently.
The game also features a VHS-inspired visual style intended to evoke realism and nostalgia while reinforcing its psychological tone despite the absence of combat or complex puzzles.
At Night: The Student is available to purchase on Steam.
