Overview

Baghdad Game Lab (BGL) is an Iraqi gaming ecosystem organisation based in Baghdad. Founded in 2022, it aims to support the development and recognition of Iraq's games industry by helping aspiring developers take their first steps into game development and connecting them with other creators.

The organisation operates as a game lab and community hub, providing game development training, game jams, publishing, development support, custom solutions and industry awareness initiatives. Its programmes cover areas including game design, development, marketing and game business, while its physical space is intended to bring gamers, creators and startups together.

BGL also organises and supports industry events and development programmes in Iraq. Its recent activities include Iraq Game Jam and the GameOn with HP Gaming Garage Hackathon, while its partnerships have included organisations such as HP, Goethe-Institut, the French Institute and French Embassy.
