Overview

Bantu Games is an Angolan game development company based in Luanda, focused on creating games that reflect Angolan culture and everyday life. The studio's stated mission is to create games that Angolans can identify with while providing entertainment and educational value.

The company's best-known project is Zungueira Run, an endless runner that puts players in the role of an Angolan street vendor trying to escape municipal inspectors while navigating traffic and collecting coins. The game has surpassed 50,000 downloads, according to Bantu Games.

Bantu Games also developed Lixo Not, a mobile game created in partnership with Angolan telecommunications company Unitel as part of a social responsibility campaign focused on malaria prevention.

Beyond its own games, Bantu Games offers mobile game and app development services, marketing solutions and training in app and game development.

The company received financial support from Angolan media and entertainment company PlatinaLine for its early projects and has since focused more heavily on business-to-business work and training young people, according to UNCTAD's mapping of Angola's creative industries.
