Overview
Bonobo Studio, also referred to as Bonobo Entertainment, is a young Congolese game and animation studio founded in Kinshasa in 2019, with Christian Mokuba among its founders. It was selected by the Goethe-Institut's Enter Africa project and SpielFabrique mentoring programme, which supported emerging African game studios.
The studio's best-documented project is Kongo Dynasty, an educational adventure game that introduces players to the history of the Kingdom of Kongo. Players take the role of Oblava, a child who is transported into the past and explores the kingdom across five levels, solving puzzles, avoiding enemies and interacting with historical figures.
Bonobo also participated in the development of The Guardian Dynasty, which was showcased at Indie Arena Booth alongside other African developers. The game is credited specifically to Bonobo Studio and listed as a Democratic Republic of the Congo project.
The studio was also involved in Golden Georges, a football mobile game co-produced with Senegal's Kayfo and Central African Republic's Masseka Game.
