Overview

Disputed People Games is a South African independent game studio creating culturally rich games rooted in African stories, mythology and perspectives. The Johannesburg-based studio aims to develop games that reflect the diversity of the African continent and introduce its stories, characters and cultures to global audiences.

The studio's flagship project is Khamani: The Lion of Summer, a 3D action-adventure inspired by African gods and mythology. Players take on the role of Khamani, an archer from Nubia who can transform into a lion, as he journeys through a mythological world. The studio describes Khamani as the potential foundation for a globally successful African game hero and franchise.

Its broader portfolio includes Super Diski FC, a mobile football puzzle game built around physics-based shooting and featuring African-inspired stadium and ball designs, as well as RECLAIM, Hyper Star Fury, I Saw A Kraken, Wacky Deliveries, Plant Mom Match and UKNOW Quiz Card Game.

Disputed People Games has also been selected for Xbox Game Camp Africa 2026, giving the studio access to mentorship and support as it develops its projects.
