Overview

Dreaming Door Studios was founded by Benjamin Ludwig, a Detroit-based philosophy teacher, with a stated mission to treat games as a genuine art form rather than a purely commercial product. Its first release, Golden Treasure: The Great Green, an interactive narrative game where players live life as a young dragon, launched in 2019 after roughly 15,000 hours of development.

The studio went quiet for several years afterwards before returning in 2023 to begin work on its sequel, HIEROPHANT. As revealed at Exel by Merak's cohort graduation day, the studio has since partnered with Merak Capital and opened an office in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where it is now developing HIEROPHANT.
