Overview
Four Old Men is a South African independent game development collective founded by four women studying game design at university. Despite its deliberately misleading name, the team formed during the COVID-19 pandemic as a game jam group and went on to win multiple awards over the following two years.
The team is a two-time winner of The Campus Game Jam, taking first place with To Walk Alone in 2021 and Lightkeeper in 2022. Its projects have since been showcased at events including Comic Con Africa, Africa Games Week, AVIJOZI and Joburg Games Fest.
To Walk Alone was also selected for the ARK Pitchathon at AfricaComicade in 2025, where the team placed second.
The collective has expanded beyond its original four members to collaborate with other developers, while continuing to work across both serious and comedic game concepts. Its latest project, SOULMATES, was selected for exhibition at Playtopia.
