Overview

Griot Studios is a Nigerian multimedia production company based in Abuja, creating content across film, television, animation, games and interactive media. The company was founded in 2016 and describes itself as a modern-day griot, using storytelling and human-centred design across different forms of media.

Its games work includes Jaru’s Journey, a 2D mobile adventure game following a heroine attempting to restore balance to her land. The game draws on African stories and cultures and is available on Android and iOS, where Griot says it has passed 5,000 downloads.

The company also developed House Party, an interactive experience using Kinect motion-sensing technology in which players' physical movements influence the experience.

Beyond its own projects, Griot Studios provides games and interactive media development, alongside film production, media consultancy and human-centred design services. It also hosted the Abuja Game Jam 2026, bringing developers and creatives together to make games during the 72-hour event.
