Overview
Huuza Games is a Rwandan game and gamification company based in Kigali. The company focuses on using games to connect people with places, culture and history, with projects spanning mobile gaming, educational games and location-based experiences. LinkedIn lists the company as founded in 2022 with a team of 2-10 employees.
The company grew out of Huuza Quest, an idea developed through Rwanda's Jasiri programme. Huuza later took part in Hanga Pitchfest, where it finished fifth and won RWF 12.5 million ($8,500) in funding. Rwanda's Ministry of ICT describes Huuza Quest as a gaming startup promoting interactive learning around Rwandan and African history and culture.
Its current flagship product is Nomad, an AR-powered platform built around trails and tours. Players follow "NomQuests", explore locations, collect virtual "Nomojis", earn Nomcoins and badges, and compete on leaderboards. The company has used the platform to create gamified exploration experiences around Kigali, including visits to parks, museums, game centres and other attractions.
Huuza also develops Huuza Cards, educational card games, alongside Huuza XP, which provides gamified experiences for teams and organisations.
