Overview

Ingozi Games is a South African independent game studio developing Poached: Hunt The Hunter, an open-world first-person shooter set in South Africa's Northern Province. The game puts players in the role of a game ranger fighting poachers while exploring the bush, with stealth, combat, crafting and RPG elements.

Poached: Hunt The Hunter combines conventional FPS mechanics with a deliberately South African setting and humour. Players can hunt for food, prepare braais, grow herbs, craft equipment, drive a 2-litre bakkie and listen to South African radio stations. The game also features 14 weapons, a day/night cycle, dynamic weather and more than 12 story missions alongside side quests and other activities including ostrich racing and golf.

The game entered Steam Early Access in August 2023 and remains in development, with a free demo available. It features full voice acting in English, Afrikaans, Sepedi and Zulu.

Ingozi describes itself as a one-person development studio supported by voice actors and musicians, with the game being self-funded and community-driven. The studio has also showcased Poached at South African gaming events including rAge.
