Overview
Kairos Game is an independent game studio based in Cotonou, Benin, founded in 2022 by Patrice De-Souza. The studio develops original games while also working to support the growth of African game development through education, content creation and collaboration.
Founder Patrice De-Souza is a self-taught gameplay developer and Unity trainer who also creates educational content covering game programming, game design and African independent games. The studio's work combines game development with efforts to help local developers build their skills and enter the industry.
Kairos Game has developed Japa Apocalypse, an African-inspired zombie adventure, and Afro Kitchen, a cooking game centred on African cuisine. Its 2026 project Idle Borderless was created for the Pan African Game Jam and explores the idea of a united African economy through an idle management experience.
The studio also participates in industry and educational initiatives, with its founder using online content to provide programming courses, game development tutorials and commentary on African games.
