Overview

Mac Studios is an independent Angolan game development studio that began working on mobile games in 2021. The studio focuses on creating games influenced by Angolan culture and settings.

Its first known game is Aventuras da Glx, an educational adventure game in which aliens invade Angola and players must save the country's cities. The game follows Dji Tafinha as he battles the alien invasion, with Luanda serving as one of its key settings. It was built using Unity and released for Android.

Aventura da Glx* was released in April 2023, and Games Industry Africa reported that it had passed 12,000 downloads on itch.io shortly after launch. The studio also planned an iOS release at the time.

The game is notable for putting recognisably Angolan locations and culture at the centre of its story, rather than simply using a generic setting. This makes Mac Studios a useful addition to IsaKaba's record of smaller developers emerging from Angola.
