Overview

Revival Game Studios is a Nigerian independent game studio based in Lagos. Founded in 2019, the studio focuses on creating games inspired by African history, culture and mythology, with the aim of introducing African stories to a wider audience.

Its main project is Oba-Wars: Thrones of Benin, a third-person action-adventure RPG set in the 15th-century Benin Kingdom. Players take on the role of Prince Ogun as he attempts to reclaim his kingdom and establish himself as one of Africa's greatest kings. The game features stealth elements and is being developed in Unity for iOS and Android.

The project is particularly notable for focusing on the pre-colonial Benin Kingdom, an area of Nigerian history that remains relatively unexplored in mainstream games. Revival says its goal is to use games as a "fun and interactive medium" for sharing African values with the world.
