Overview

The Brotherhood is a South African independent game studio founded by brothers Christopher and Nicholas Bischoff. Based in Cape Town, the studio specialises in dark, narrative-driven science fiction and horror games, combining detailed visual design with puzzle and adventure gameplay. The team is listed as a two-person studio in reporting on its development history.

The studio's debut game, STASIS, is a science-fiction point-and-click adventure set aboard a derelict spacecraft. It was followed by CAYNE, a free standalone adventure set in the same universe, and Beautiful Desolation, a post-apocalyptic adventure set in a future version of South Africa.

Its latest released game is STASIS: BONE TOTEM, which expands the STASIS universe through an isometric adventure featuring three playable characters, puzzles and a shared inventory system. The game launched on PC in 2023 before reaching consoles and Mac in 2024. It won multiple 2023 awards, including Games Africa Game of the Year.

The studio is currently developing Animal Use Protocol, a first-person, narrative-focused survival horror game built in Unreal Engine 5. Development began in December 2023, with a PC release planned but no date announced.
