Overview
Two Name Games is a South African playful development studio founded in 2024 by a group of game development and digital arts professionals. The Johannesburg-based studio creates games, interactive experiences and playful solutions for organisations, combining game design, research, education and technology.
The studio works across games for learning and training, workshops, events and interactive experiences. Its approach focuses on using play to encourage creativity, collaboration, problem-solving and engagement, with projects developed in partnership with clients and creative organisations.
One of its major recent projects is Acts of Care, an immersive exhibition produced with the GALA Queer Archive. The project combines VR, AR and participatory poster-making to explore the history of LGBTQIA+ communities and HIV/AIDS activism in South Africa. It was developed through Futures_Past: Amplifying Memory with Immersive Technologies, an initiative involving the Embassy of France in South Africa, Lesotho and Malawi, the French Institute of South Africa and Electric South.
