Overview

Virdane Labs is an independent Kenyan game development project founded by Jeffrey Gichuki. Based in Nairobi, Gichuki works primarily as a game programmer and developer, with a focus on narrative-driven games and experimental prototypes.

The project's main game is Rachel's Grasp, a 2D narrative platformer following Rachel as she falls into the depths of her own mind and struggles to regain control. The project explores mental health and anxiety through narrative design and gameplay. It is currently listed as in development on itch.io.

Gichuki has also developed smaller prototypes including Foxy's Adventure and Night of the Undead.

Outside Virdane Labs, Gichuki has professional experience at Nairobi-based Mekan Games, where he worked on mobile games including The President. He is currently listed as Team Lead and Senior Unity Developer at the studio.
