eMedia Interactive launches narrative VR puzzle game CloserLook VR: Oldways

Nigerian independent developer eMedia Interactive is set to release its debut title, CloserLook VR: Oldways, on June 25th 2026, for Meta Quest and SteamVR.

The game is a room-scale VR puzzle adventure set in modern-day West Africa. Players take on the role of Tessy, a final-year microbiology student who wakes up trapped inside a locked university administrative building.

What begins as a desperate attempt to escape quickly unravels into a deeper conspiracy, as Tessy uncovers the sinister intentions of a mysterious organisation operating beneath the surface of her campus.

Starting in a quiet departmental library, each puzzle solved pulls players further into a layered narrative built around themes of corruption, exploitation, and betrayal, with stolen artifacts to recover and untold stories to piece together along the way.

Comfort First

The studio has emphasised comfort-focused design to keep the experience accessible across skill levels, alongside highly detailed interactive objects, authentic West African environments, and immersive 3D spatial audio.

eMedia Interactive is based in Nigeria's capital Abuja, making CloserLook VR: Oldways one of the few VR titles to emerge from both the city and the country's independent development community.

A SteamVR release is planned for August 2026, with the studio exploring publishing partnerships that could bring the title to additional platforms in the future.
