Algeria partners with Roblox months after ban
Training will cover game development and digital content creation
Algeria has reached a preliminary partnership agreement with Roblox to train local game developers, months after initially banning the platform in September 2025.
The agreement will offer training in game design, development and digital content creation. It also aims to help young Algerians work as freelancers and publish games for a global audience through Roblox.
Return with conditions
Roblox has introduced age estimation tools and expanded parental controls, while working to improve Arabic and Algerian dialect support. The company is also improving channels for reporting harmful content.
However, Roblox previously told PocketGamer.biz that chat will remain disabled for all users in Algeria until the platform has advanced Arabic moderation systems and meets the required technical and regulatory safeguards.
The programme aims to help young people enter an industry estimated to generate $323 billion globally. Africa’s games market was valued at around $2.29bn. Further details of the training programme are expected later.
