Be Ubuntu Game Jam wraps up with three new games

The Be Ubuntu Game Jam has concluded with three new games built by mixed teams of senior developers from Africa and Europe across 96 hours of collaborative work.

The three titles include Hues of Culture, a transcontinental journey through African and European cuisine and Sound Rise, centred on restoring the Mosque of Djenné through music creation.

Lastly, Kimiani's Redemption is a family-driven redemption story. All three games will soon be available on itch.io.

Next steps

Studios that participated included Weza Interactive Entertainment, Oddus Spellfusion GmbH, Chroma Pixel Games Studio, Metafrik, Muqecha Studios, and Ogham Interactive, among others.

Looking ahead, organisers confirmed the results will be presented at the Games for Change Africa Summit in Nairobi, which is currently ongoing until April 23rd.

ElimuGoal also said it plans to develop a blueprint for indie studio collaboration on new IP, and deepen its connection with the African gamedev ecosystem through education and community development.
