The game has recorded more than 34m visits
Nigerian web-based game Lagos Life has surpassed 5 million players within nine days of launch, while its parent company, Vatar, has raised $500,000 in an angel funding round.
Launched on October 1st, the game has recorded more than 34m visits, with over 110,000 players online at the time of its latest announcement.
The $500,000 raise gives the company funding to support its plans, though it has not disclosed how it will spend the money.
Funding and growth
The game's growth has drawn attention to its potential to reach players beyond Nigeria. In its announcement, the team thanked players for playing, sharing and supporting the game, while setting a new target of 10m players.
“Lagos is just the beginning. We’re building entire worlds, and there’s so much more to come,” Vatar said.
Vatar has yet to share further details about its next projects, but says more experiences are on the way. You can play Lagos Life here.
