Savvy Games Group and Alfaisal University launch 9-month game design programme
The course combines hands-on learning, mentorship, and industry master classes
Savvy Games Group and Alfaisal University have unveiled the Savvy x Alfaisal Game Design LevelUp Program, a nine-month professional course to prepare aspiring game designers for careers in the games industry.
Following an initial partnership in February, the programme combines hands-on learning, professional mentorship, and industry master classes to help participants build practical skills in game design, player experience, gameplay systems, and design documentation.
It is designed to give students both technical knowledge and industry exposure, with successful participants receiving priority consideration for internship opportunities with Savvy ecosystem partners during the July internship cycle.
Programme details
The programme is expected to begin on October 1st and will run for 29 weeks, with classes held from 4 pm to 8 pm (Riyadh time) on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays at Alfaisal University. The programme costs SAR15,000 (~$4,000), which becomes non-refundable once it begins.
It will accept up to 28 students and includes seven industry master classes, an industry-academic certificate for participants who achieve a pass grade above 80%, and 10 priority game design internship roles with Savvy partners for top achievers.
The curriculum focuses on developing systems thinking in game design, covering topics such as mechanics, dynamics, player motivation, core and meta loops, progression systems, genre analysis, system mapping, and professional game design documentation.
By the end of the programme, participants are expected to be able to analyse and design game systems, evaluate player engagement and progression, create structured design documentation, and apply design principles to gameplay concepts and prototypes. Interested individuals can apply here.
