10 student-created games Roblox brought to life through Saudi Arabia’s Play to Learn competition
Winning game Glitch: Parallel Reactions will be fully developed for Roblox’s Learning Hub
Roblox has revealed the 10 finalist game concepts developed through Saudi Arabia’s nationwide Play to Learn competition.
The competition is part of an education initiative backed by Savvy Games Group and the Saudi Ministry of Education. It saw more than 700,000 student participants and over 155,000 submissions.
The competition challenged high school students across Saudi Arabia to create original educational game concepts blending gameplay with school subjects, including chemistry, biology, mathematics, geography, and physics.
Below is a closer look at the 10 student-created games selected for the final round of the competition:
Glitch: Parallel Reactions (winner)
Subject: Chemistry
Set in a neon world filled with monsters made from real chemical compounds, Glitch: Parallel Reactions tasks players with using chemistry-based attacks to survive battles and craft new weapons. Players collect elements from defeated enemies and combine them into increasingly powerful formulas as they progress deeper into the world.
Subject: Physics (Optics), History
Guardians of the Legacy places players inside ancient underground chambers where beams of light must be redirected using mirrors, prisms, and splitters. Each puzzle challenges players to manipulate wavelengths and restore forgotten monuments hidden beneath the ruins.
Subject: Biology
In Biology Horizons, players operate a medical clinic where patients arrive with mysterious symptoms and limited time for diagnosis. Players must run tests, identify illnesses, and prescribe treatments carefully, as incorrect decisions can worsen a patient’s condition.
Subject: Physics (Electricity & Magnetism)
Energy Archipelago sends players across dark island environments searching for electrical components hidden in caves, rooftops, and shipwrecks. Using the collected parts, players build working circuits to restore power while learning the fundamentals of electricity and engineering.
Subject: Physics (Optics)
World of Lumen revolves around laser-based puzzles where players manipulate beams of light to solve increasingly complex rooms. Using reflections, colours, and light direction mechanics, the game gradually introduces more advanced optical challenges across six levels.
Subject: History, Geography
Inspired by the historical ruler of the Palmyrene Empire, Queen Zenobia places players on the royal throne as they manage political, military, and economic decisions. Every choice affects the stability of the kingdom, with outcomes compared against the real-life decisions of Zenobia herself.
Subject: Mathematics (Geometry)
Fix the Kite follows a boy restoring a broken kite through a series of geometry-inspired challenges. Players solve coordinate puzzles, navigate obstacle courses using angles, and overcome enemies using mathematical concepts tied to square roots and spatial reasoning.
Subject: Geography, Climate & Weather
Guardians of the Map turns players into disaster response strategists tasked with tracking hurricanes using atmospheric instruments and weather data. Players must interpret wind direction and pressure changes to decide which cities to protect before the storm hits.
Subject: Chemistry
Part detective story and part chemistry experiment, The Hidden Clue revolves around the sabotage of a research robot and the theft of sensitive data. Players investigate crime scenes, analyse chemical traces, and identify suspects by piecing together scientific evidence.
Subject: Mathematics (Algebra)
Algebra Awareness connects an ancient desert world with a futuristic city through algebra-based puzzles. Solving equations restores energy, rebuilds structures, and keeps both worlds functioning as players race against time to stabilise the collapsing environments.
Following the competition, Roblox worked with the finalists to turn their ideas into playable prototypes, all of which will now be featured in a new “Student Created” category within the Roblox Learning Hub.
Roblox said the experience aims to spark a passion for game design in participants and help build the next generation of developers in the region. The company also claims its Learning Hub has been visited more than 64 million times since launching in July 2025.
