The game is designed to give players freedom over how they approach its world
Istanbul-based indie studio BuBa Games is working on Cartoon Crime, an open-world action game that combines story missions, exploration, mini-games and sandbox gameplay.
The two-person studio describes Cartoon Crime as its current project, with players able to explore the city freely, take on missions, earn money, purchase weapons, recruit bodyguards and build their reputation. The game is designed to give players freedom over how they approach its world, whether by following the story or simply causing chaos across the city.
Players can also switch between third-person and classic top-down camera perspectives, offering different ways to experience the action. The city includes enterable shops and businesses, alongside activities such as bowling, billiards and arcade games.
Freedom and chaos
Police responses are also built into the experience, with wanted levels escalating as players cause more trouble. Players can fight back, escape or use other methods to evade the police.
BuBa Games said the project also features multiple playable characters, rival gangs, different districts, recruitable bodyguards and various difficulty settings.
