CodeBox Games wins Lagos Games Week Pitch Stage with Hell Bleeds
The prize is a spot in the Nigerian delegation to Gamescom 2026
Nigerian studio CodeBox Games has won the Pitch Stage competition at Lagos Games Week 2026 with its debut title Hell Bleeds, earning founder Prosper Moses a place in the Nigerian developer delegation heading to Gamescom 2026 in Germany.
The win put CodeBox ahead of two other finalists, Beyond Service from Goondu Interactive and Circuit Chakula from Mykiyi Entertainment.
Hell Bleeds is an action-adventure game set in an African-inspired world where extremist voodoo worshippers have unleashed dark forces across the land, casting the player as a freedom fighter working to restore balance and reclaim territory from supernatural control.
Authentic African stories
Founded in 2024 by self-taught 3D artist and developer Moses, CodeBox Games sets out to create culturally authentic games drawn from African stories, traditions and mythology. In an earlier conversation with IsaKaba, Moses framed the studio's mission around building authentic African stories in interactive worlds, a thread that runs directly through Hell Bleeds.

That vision has been pursued the hard way. The studio works with a lean mix of full-time, freelance and contract contributors, and Hell Bleeds is largely self-funded, the financial reality many early-stage studios in the region face before formal funding or publishing support arrives.
What the Gamescom prize unlocks
The prize is a spot in the Nigerian delegation to Gamescom, led by Maliyo Games founder Hugo Obi. For a self-funded studio, the value sits in the access it buys.
Gamescom is the world's largest gaming event, and a place in the delegation puts CodeBox in front of the publishers, investors and partners that are otherwise difficult to reach from Nigeria, alongside the chance to showcase Hell Bleeds to industry leaders and represent the country on one of gaming's biggest stages.
CodeBox Games is developing Hell Bleeds as its first commercial release, continuing to explore partnerships and publishing opportunities to scale production and reach global audiences.
