Crown's Trial is a new souls-like title from Egyptian developer Gilded Games
The game will feature a fully voiced and illustrated narrative built around its legendary figures
Egyptian indie studio Gilded Games has revealed Crown's Trial, a fantasy Souls-like boss rush that sends players across different worlds and eras and combat to battle legendary heroes from across time.
As reported by GamesIndustryAfrica, Crown's Trial is the debut project from the two-brother development team behind Gilded Games. The title is currently in development for PC with a Steam release targeted for Q4 2026. The studio has yet to confirm a specific release date or price.
The game's premise centers on freedom of choice, as players must overcome a series of legendary opponents but decide for themselves which boss to challenge first, rather than following a traditional linear campaign. Each encounter drops players into a distinct world, complete with its own visual identity, mechanics and abilities.
Narrative focus
Alongside its combat structure, Crown's Trial will feature a fully voiced and illustrated narrative built around its legendary figures. Illustrated sequences will spotlight crucial moments in each character's story, giving players context behind their encounters before they step into battle.
Gilded Games describes itself as two brothers from Egypt who grew up gaming together and are now pursuing their dream of building games of their own. Crown's Trial marks their first commercial release, and an early signal of the kind of ambition emerging from Egypt's small but growing indie scene.
