Go North arrives July 28th on PC and Xbox Series X|S
“With so much uncertainty in the real world, I wanted the calmness Go North exudes to be embedded into the core gameplay loop."
Nigerian developer Tade Ajiboye has set a July 28th release date for Go North, his atmospheric maze adventure game, with a demo landing ahead of Steam Next Fest.
The one-man studio gazuntype confirmed the date during today's Black Voices in Gaming Showcase. PC and Xbox Series X|S players begin their journey on that date, with a Nintendo Switch version in development.
Ajiboyesaid he built Go North around patience and stillness, drawing on West Africa's contributions to interactive media. Finding the exit north is Dara's only objective, by design.
Finding your way through magic and mazes
Go North puts players in control of Dara, a character navigating handcrafted labyrinths spanning twisted forests, bookshelf corridors, and sky islands. The incoming demo introduces four new levels, fresh puzzles, sidequests, and a Camera mechanic, plus an opening cinematic setting up the search for the mythical Maze God.
Ancient relics blending magic and technology serve as navigation tools throughout each world. Players can also collect Golden Compasses for unlockables and personalise Dara with cosmetic items.

“There is a certain sense of serenity that comes from a good walk,” said Ajiboye. “With so much uncertainty in the real world, I wanted the calmness Go North exudes to be embedded into the core gameplay loop.
"As finding the exit due north is the only duty Dara has, I hope players feel the freedom to take their time, look around, and sit in the stillness of patience without penalties to find peace of mind. The demo provides a glimpse, but the full launch has some magical surprises left in store.”
Go North launches on Steam and Xbox on July 28th. The demo is available on Steam.
