Istikan Studio launches murder mystery game Social Suspect on iOS and Android
The game uses a phone battery as a limit on how much players can investigate
Iraqi game studio Istikan Studio has launched Social Suspect, a murder mystery game for iOS and Android that asks players to solve a case by searching through a dead woman's social media posts.
Players investigate the death of Shanya, looking for clues in her posts, photos and conversations. Her complaints about worsening water problems in her building could be linked to Minara Co., a company that may be hiding something.
The game uses a phone battery as a limit on how much players can investigate. Every swipe, comment thread and saved photo drains power, forcing players to choose which clues deserve their attention.
Solving the case
Players must also connect evidence across different posts, using details in photographs to solve puzzles. An anonymous account begins sending messages about Shanya and Minara Co., but does not reveal everything.
The investigation later moves beyond the social media feed to a second case involving a locked warehouse. This case ends on a cliffhanger, with more cases planned for the future.
Based in Erbil, in Iraq's Kurdistan Region, Istikan Studio is the game development arm of Tornet, a telecom and digital solutions company.
Players can download Social Suspect on the App Store and Google Play.
