Kalanoro launches as Madagascar's Red Raketa Studio brings Malagasy folklore to global audiences

Madagascar-based Red Raketa Studio has released Kalanoro, its debut action-adventure platformer inspired by Malagasy folklore, across PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The game is published internationally by New Tales and is set in the fictional world of Lemuria. Kalanoro follows Kalakely as she attempts to defeat the witch Raneny by building a band of eccentric lemur musicians.
Players explore different biomes, fight enemies using hair-based powers and improvised weapons, and recruit musicians while building their band's popularity.
From Madagascar to the world
The game draws directly from Madagascar's folklore, landscapes and cultural identity, depicting Red Raketa's focus on creating games rooted in Malagasy stories for international audiences.
The studio was founded in Antananarivo in 2021 by Dina Valisoa Ratsisetraina, Steevie Rasoanaivo and Luana Karen Andriamamonjy.
Kalanoro's international release also includes a partnership between SEGA and New Tales for publication in Japan and selected Asian markets. The game was previously showcased through the ID@Xbox and IGN programme ahead of launch.
Kalanoro is now available on Steam, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.
