Vetkoek Studios opens applications for Roblox game development accelerator
No previous Roblox development experience required
South Africa-based Vetkoek Studios has opened applications for a new Roblox game development accelerator to help aspiring developers create and publish games on the platform.
The two-week programme will run from October 12th to 26th, with applications open until September 30th. The initiative is open to people aged 18 and above who are not currently employed full-time, with no previous Roblox development experience required.
Participants will receive training resources, masterclasses, feedback and playtesting, technical support and publishing services as they develop their Roblox game prototypes.
Building Roblox games
The accelerator will use a three-phase development structure, with each phase lasting two weeks. Six games that complete the first phase will receive a R5,000 (~$305) cash prize, with further R5,000 payouts available for games progressing through subsequent phases.
Vetkoek Studios will also offer participants a 50% revenue share publishing arrangement. Games that pass all three phases and show promising metrics can receive further development and investment from the studio.
Developers retain ownership of their intellectual property, while Vetkoek Studios receives rights to distribute and monetise the games through Roblox and associated marketing materials.
