MBC Group has entered game development with the launch of MBC Game Studio and the reveal of its debut title, 1001 Threads of Mizan.
The Saudi-headquartered media and entertainment group unveiled the studio and game in Cologne, showcasing MBC Game Studio as a global developer and publisher focused on creating original games for international audiences.
The studio has roots in Riyadh and London and is building a portfolio of first and third-party titles.
1001 Threads of Mizan is an Arabian fantasy action-adventure inspired by the storytelling traditions of One Thousand and One Nights. The game combines exploration, combat and cooperative gameplay, with up to three players able to play together through drop-in, drop-out co-op.
Building a global studio
Players can travel across the game's world using flying carpets, combining ground and aerial traversal while taking on large-scale jinn creatures. The game is being developed for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2. A playable pre-alpha demo was also made available at Gamescom.

MBC Game Studio is led by CEO Daniel Engelhardt and COO Trevor Williams, with a global development team that includes talent from BioWare, Hi-Rez, Ubisoft Montréal and Bungie.
The studio has been working on 1001 Threads of Mizan since 2023 and has not yet announced a release date for the game.
