Cozy Country is an upcoming landscape-painting game from developer Robert Kabwe
Players paint their own landscapes, including trees, rivers, and villages, then explore them on foot
Protopop Games founder and solo developer Robert Kabwe is developing Cozy Country, a game where players paint their own landscapes and then step inside to explore them.
Kabwe previously spoke to IsaKaba about the making of Meadowfell, his open-world exploration title built under the Wilderless series.
Cozy Country takes a different approach, putting the creation tools directly in the player's hands rather than offering a pre-built world to wander. Kabwe described the upcoming title as a peaceful space to slow down, build something small, and spend time inside it.
Painting and exploring
Players can paint trees, flowers, bushes, and rocks, shape the terrain, and draw paths through the countryside, with scatter brushes allowing entire forests to be painted in a single stroke.

Rivers can be placed to wind through the landscape, flow downhill, and spill over cliffs as waterfalls. Villages are built from a range of cozy buildings that can be resized, reshaped, and recolored, with fences, bridges, and paths added for detail.
Once a landscape is built, players can switch to Explore mode to walk through their creation, enter buildings, sit by the fire, or watch animals graze outside.
Animals, time of day, weather, and sunlight can all be adjusted to bring the world to life. The game also includes a full photo mode, letting players frame and capture their favorite views at any time.
Cozy Country is coming to iOS, Android, and PC. You can wishlist the title on Steam.
