Saudi investment firm Merak Capital has promoted Fares AlDubie to investment associate for venture capital, advancing him from his previous role as senior investment analyst within the firm's VC team.
AlDubie joined Merak Capital in mid 2025 and has spent more than a year supporting venture investments, managing the investment lifecycle from founder engagement and due diligence through to execution.

Backing Saudi gaming
Merak Capital manages an $80 million Gaming Fund backed by the National Development Fund and the Social Development Bank, with investments deployed through Exel by Merak to support game developers and startups in Saudi Arabia.
The fund launched in November 2024 as part of the firm's efforts to strengthen the Kingdom's games industry under Vision 2030, backing studios and gaming ventures through its accelerator and investment programmes.
Exel by Merak has since graduated two cohorts of gaming startups, with its third cohort currently underway as the accelerator continues supporting early-stage developers looking to scale their businesses.
