Sanddrifter Studio releases Sijen: Chaos Board on iOS and Android
The game is free to play with no pay-to-win mechanics
Sanddrifter Studio has released Sijen: Chaos Board, a reimagined take on the traditional Gulf race game, now live on iOS and Android.
The Abu Dhabi-based studio built the game around what it calls Chaos Mode, a layer of items and powers added on top of the familiar Sijen format, turning a straightforward race into something less predictable and more competitive.
The game is free to play with no pay-to-win mechanics, and supports up to four players on a single device.
Rebuilt for chaos
Sijen: Chaos Board is Sanddrifter's debut title and its clearest statement of intent so far. The studio has said it treats Gulf folklore and regional memory as structural to its design rather than decorative, building games "from the inside out, not the surface down."
Reworking a board game most Gulf players grew up with, rather than building an original IP from scratch, puts that philosophy into practice immediately instead of waiting for a bigger, riskier release.
Founded by Rashed Alfahim in 2025, Sanddrifter has positioned itself against retention-heavy live-service design, aiming to build trust through focused, time-respectful games instead of engagement loops.
Sijen: Chaos Board is the studio's first real test of whether that philosophy can hold up commercially.
