Saudi Game Champions opens applications for third edition

Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has opened registration for the third edition of the Saudi Game Champions programme, an initiative designed to help local talent turn game ideas into playable projects.

The programme is delivered through the ministry's Center of Digital Entrepreneurship (CODE), in partnership with the National Technology Development Program.

It aims to support aspiring game developers and entrepreneurs through training, mentorship and practical experience in game development.

Building new studios

The programme begins with a three-day Game Jam in Riyadh, where participants work in teams to develop game prototypes. The initiative then supports selected teams through a longer incubation process, providing technical guidance and mentorship as they develop their ideas.

The third edition is planned to run for six months. The programme is aimed at people interested in starting their own game studios, with the goal of helping them move from early concepts towards playable projects and potential businesses.

According to the published eligibility details shared by programme promoters, applicants must be Saudi nationals aged 18 or older, have basic knowledge of programming, art or game design, speak English and attend in person.

Participants are also expected to own laptops capable of running game development software. Teams must have at least three founders, though applicants can meet potential teammates during the Game Jam.

Interested applicants can register through the official Saudi Game Champions application form or visit the official website.
