Savvy Games Camp sparks shift as 86% of teens eye careers in games

Savvy Games Group's Next Gen Games Camp with King Salman Science Oasis produced a sharp shift in career interests, with 86% of participants now saying they want to pursue a career in the games industry.

The camp, held under the theme "From Player to Game Maker," concluded in the presence of Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Sultan Al Saud, vice chairman of Savvy's board of directors.

Savvy Academy director Guillaume Champavere took to LinkedIn to share that the program delivered its Next-Gen Senior Track at scale for the first time, with young aspiring game makers turning their ideas into finished projects.

The closing ceremony featured a review of participants' final games, following an applied learning experience where students learned the basics of game design and development and turned their ideas into working prototypes.

Career shift

The camp builds on a memorandum of understanding Savvy signed with King Salman Science Oasis in July to strengthen collaboration in education, innovation and game development. That agreement covers joint initiatives across STEM, game development education, talent programs, and shared events and competitions.

The partnership supports Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 and its National Gaming and Esports Strategy, both aimed at building a stronger pipeline of local talent across games, technology and innovation.
