Supercell opens applications for Africa developer grants

Supercell has opened applications for the first cohort of its Developer Grants Program, offering equity-free funding of $20,000 to $200,000 to game development studios across Africa.

The program follows Supercell's earlier commitment this year to support the growth of Africa's games ecosystem.

It is open to legally registered studios across platforms, genres and business models, with funding tied to each studio's stage and needs rather than a fixed amount.

Areas of evaluation

Applications will be assessed across five core areas: team, game and creative vision, community and audience engagement, potential for impact on the wider ecosystem, and viability and use of funds.

Supercell said it is primarily looking for exceptional teams, compelling games and thoughtful plans for how the funding would support growth.

Applications close August 9th, with a review period running from August to October. Successful applicants will be notified in October, and grant funding is expected to begin in December.
