Roblox appoints Mohamed El Sheikh as MENAT general manager
Former Games Ventures head takes on Roblox's first regional GM role across the Middle East, North Africa, and Turkey.
Roblox has appointed Mohamed El Sheikh as general manager for the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey (MENAT) region.
El Sheikh will oversee Roblox's regional expansion, partnership development, and developer ecosystem support, while aligning local market priorities with the company's global strategy.
The role also covers public and private sector engagement to grow the regional games industry and digital innovation ecosystem.
He brings over two decades of experience across Apple's App Store, Microsoft, and Nokia. Most recently, he led Games Ventures, a MENA-focused company supporting studios, creators, investors, and the public sector.
A regional pillar for Roblox's growth
"Roblox has succeeded in building a global interactive gaming platform, and the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey region has all the elements that make it a fundamental pillar supporting the company's future," El Sheikh said.
"This region includes a wide segment of creative young people interested in the digital world, and is witnessing growing investments from the public and private sectors."
The appointment comes as Roblox accelerates its regional push, with the platform reporting 132 million daily active users in the first quarter of 2026.
It also follows the company's recent MoU with Saudi Arabia's Savvy Games Group on a creator training pipeline involving 700,000 high school students.
