Lagos Life reaches 50,000 concurrent players as Nigerian browser game expands

Lagos Life has crossed 50,000 concurrent players as the Nigerian browser-based social game continues to attract users with its virtual take on Lagos.

The latest figures shared by developer Shalom Rayhamen show 50,266 people playing at the same time, alongside 399,187 total players and 813,166 visits in a single day. The game has now recorded more than 2.32 million all-time visits.

The latest milestone comes shortly after Lagos Life passed 100,000 users, with the project growing from an idea inspired by The Sims 3 into a virtual world where players can meet and interact.

More cities coming

Rayhamen has also revealed plans to expand beyond Lagos, saying AbujaLife and PHLife (Port Harcourt) are in development. The developer said Lagos Life will eventually connect to the other virtual cities through an in-game airport, allowing players to fly between locations and visit cities outside Nigeria.

The game's growth continues as other developers experiment with Nigerian browser games. Lagos Run has attracted more than 85,000 players, while Surviving Nigeria recently launched with a GTA-inspired multiplayer experience set in Lagos.

Last week, we wrote about why Nigerian developers keep turning Danfo buses into games, and these latest numbers reaffirm that perhaps instantly accessible web games can find substantial audiences in Nigeria without requiring downloads, consoles or high-end PCs.
