There is not yet a reliable figure for the number of formal game studios in the country. IsaKaba's own directory currently tracks a small number of established Iraqi studios and gaming organisations.
The strongest indicator of the wider development community comes from the Iraq Game Jam. The 2025 edition attracted 41 game submissions, while the 2026 edition recorded 46 entries, with participants joining from Baghdad, Basra, Erbil and online.
A scene beyond studios
The Game Jam submissions show why counting Iraq's game studios is difficult. Many entries come from individual developers or small groups rather than formally established studios. The 2025 submissions include solo developers such as TheFirst1Hunter, while other games were submitted by teams of several developers.
IsaKaba currently tracks Iraqi companies and organisations including Northend Games, D4N Games, Kevir Entertainment and Nabu Studio, alongside Baghdad Game Lab.
The wider ecosystem is therefore considerably larger than the number of formal studios suggests. The 41 and 46 submissions across the two recent Game Jam editions provide a useful snapshot of active development, with many of them developing games as a hobby, and so do not count as an official game studio.
So, how many game studios are there in Iraq?
There is currently no reliable industry-wide figure. IsaKaba's verified directory count remains a more conservative measure of formal studios that continues to grow, while the Iraq Game Jam provides evidence of a much broader independent developer community.
